Nishari has been working as a doctor for almost 10 years. She provides very high quality care and takes pride in her reputation as a caring doctor who is very thorough.
Nishari says the main reason she became a doctor was to help people. So when Nishari is not at the surgery helping people, she is busy organising countless acts of compassion. To name a few, Nishari and her husband feed homeless or disabled people in Cairns every year. This year they walked all over Phnom Penh and Seam Reap in Cambodia buying goods of necessity for children living in an orphanage in Cambodia. After the 2004 tsunami, Nishari travelled around Australia and collected, packed and organised the shipping of items of necessity for victims of the tsunami. She has provided groceries for 50 families stricken by severe poverty in regional Sri Lanka. And she has helped a disabled man in Sri Lanka to develop a small business to earn a living and feed his family. In her spare time, Nishari enjoys spending time with her husband, dog and friends, travelling, camping and kayaking.

Paul achieved his medical degree and GP training in NZ and came to Australia in 1989. Initially he worked in general practice in Sydney and was a cruise ship chief doctor for P&O, before heading north to Cairns. Paul has been a family doctor at Smithfield Medical Centre over 20 years and is now treating third generation families. He believes the best medical care is from a GP who knows you and your family history, to aid early diagnosis and help with prevention of chronic disease. He provides a coordinated healthcare service, promoting well being, as well as managing his patients' illnesses. Paul sees people at all stages of their life, treats and manages a variety of acute and chronic health conditions and is always willing to listen to your concerns.
Paul welcomes new patients and when he’s not fishing, gardening or spending time with his family, you'll find him at the surgery.
